SHEIKH ABDULLAHI NIYASS (R.T.A)JIHAD

Sheikh Abdullahi Niyass (R.T.A)and was one of the greatest scholars of the Sene-gambian region in that early of 20th century. He was the first Sene-gambian Islamic Tijjani scholar to obtain unlimited license of authorization (Ijaza mutlaqa) which was granted to him by Sheikh Ahmad Sukaerij (R.T.A) His initial JIHAD activities against the French colonialists and his rising fame and famous greatly alarmed the French who exited him to Gambia in year of 1900 together with his students after burning down his mosque and library in the village call Taubat, where he settled. Sheikh Abdullahi Niyass later returned to settle down in Kaolaq probably with the help of his friend’s mediation Alhaji Maliq. He was blessed to have received many free gifts from Allah (S.W.T) and was among the respected and well-versed Tijjani scholars of his time. For instance, this Alhaji Abdullahi was given the original copy of Jawahirul Ma’ani in Sheikh Ali Harazimi’s (The closest servant of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani R.T.A) own hand writing as well as the prayer rosary of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani (R.T.A) by the head Muqadam of the Zawiyya Sidi Arab bin Muhibb. He also use to have the waking vision of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani (R.T.A) where in one of their encounters prayed to Allah (S.W.T) for one of his children to become the Great leader of His age saints. Before he left the Zawiyya, he saw a vision of that of his young son Ibrahim in the courtyard and knew that his prayers had been answered to make That of Sheikh Ibrahim Niyass be the authentic Halifa of Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani (R.T.A)
